Skilled, Compassionate Therapy (In-Person and Virtual)
for Busy Professionals, New Parents, and LGBTQ+ Adults
Our approach will help you shift from gripping, running away from pain, and living in your head...to letting go, taking action confidently, coping effectively, and living a fulfilled life.
You’re exhausted from worry, uncertainty, and trying so hard to gain control in your life.
You feel in your gut that something should be different in your relationships or career, but your mind keeps you thinking rather than acting.
At Psychotherapy Services of Alabama, we specialize in helping:

-
Busy professionals (e.g., academics, attorneys, nurses, physicians, therapists) who are feeling stuck or burnt out
-
Adults navigating the joys and hardships of starting a family
-
LGBTQ+ adults seeking affirming care and/or are coming out later in life
-
Adults and teens struggling anxiety, trauma, and identity questions

We help you move from being stalled out in life to taking action (even when it's scary). Our evidence-based assessment and therapy will give you:

-
tools to manage anxiety, stress, and trauma-related symptoms
-
skills for communicating effectively and advocating for yourself
-
steps for breaking out of addictive or harmful patterns of behavior
-
confidence navigating big life changes
-
clarity on what matters to you (what gives you meaning, purpose, joy)
clearer direction and self-understanding

Our Approach
Our practice offers a unique approach by beginning with a comprehensive, personalized psychological assessment to determine diagnoses (if any), goals, and develop a focused treatment plan. This builds a strong foundation for therapy by ensuring optimal client-therapist match and identifying the best therapeutic approach. Some, but not all insurance plans, cover these assessments. Please contact our team for more information. You may choose to begin therapy without the assessment, if you wish.

1. Personalized Assessment
Our assessment specialist will complete an evaluation with you over one to three sessions (3-4 hours total) to identify diagnoses, goals, and a treatment plan.

2. Feedback Session
Our intake specialist will have a feedback session with you to review the results and collaboratively develop a treatment plan. You will be provided with a written report of the findings.

3. Match to Therapist
The assessment will inform which therapist you'd be best matched with (and your preference will be considered of course). The report will be shared with them, which will create momentum for your work together.
